USB hub not working - what to do?
If your USB hub no longer works, there can be several reasons. We'll show you exactly what you can do.
If the USB hub doesn't work - it could be because of it
- Some USB devices do not run on a hub. External hard drives or webcams receive too little power via the hubs and refuse to work. Instead, check the connection directly on the computer.
- If you want to connect several USB devices with high power consumption to one hub, you need a hub with external power supply.
- If all devices connected to the hub are not recognized, plug the hub into another USB port on your computer.
- The problem may not be the hub but the connected USB device. In this case, continue reading in the practical tip USB stick is not recognized.
Device Manager: Reinstall the USB hub
- Simultaneously press the [Windows] + [R] keys so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "devmgmt.msc" here and confirm with "OK". Then the device manager starts.
- Select the category "USB controller" at the bottom and choose the right hub.
- Right-click on the hub and select the "Update Driver Software" option. Follow the further instructions to load the update.
- If that doesn't help, you can right-click the "Uninstall" hub and then "Install" again. After a restart, the problem should be resolved.
