If your USB mouse is not recognized the first time or after repeated use, there can be several reasons. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Getting started: USB mouse is not recognized
- First, restart your system. In some cases, this can fix your problem.
- Plug the USB mouse into another USB input. This is possibly defective or deactivated.
- If Windows does not install the driver at all or apparently only incorrectly, perform a manual installation of the driver. You can find it for download on the manufacturer's website.
Step 2: reinstall USB mouse
- Open the Control Panel and select the "Devices and Printers" under the "Hardware and Sound" category.
- If the USB mouse is listed here, right-click on it and select the "Remove device" option or a similar action.
- Then remove the USB mouse from the computer and plug it in again. Windows is now trying to reinstall the mouse.
Step 2: Install the USB mouse in Device Manager
- Use the key combination [Windows] and [R] to open the "Run" wizard.
- Enter the command "devmgmt.msc" and confirm with "OK". Then the device manager starts.
- Activate the option "Show hidden devices" under "View" and look for the USB mouse in the category "Mice and other pointing devices".
- Right-click to either enable, disable, uninstall, or update the driver.
- With one of these options, your USB mouse should be properly reinstalled and working.
