Eject USB stick - what to do?
If you can no longer eject your USB stick, there is no need to worry. You can find out what you can do about this in this practical tip.
USB stick cannot be ejected
The system indexes your USB stick so that Windows can access your files more quickly. If you cannot log off your USB stick correctly under Windows, even though you have closed all programs and files from the stick correctly, do the following:
- Click the start button in the lower left and then click "Computer".
- Now right-click on the external media you want to eject. Select the "Properties" option.
- Remove the checkmark at the bottom left of "Allow files on this drive to be indexed in addition to file properties" (see screenshot). Your USB stick can now be deregistered as usual.
Instead of indexing the files, you can also use a faster USB stick. We have summarized what you should pay attention to in another practical tip.
