USB stick: Encrypt a single partition - how it works
If you encrypt a single partition on a USB stick, you can use the remaining storage space as normal anywhere. Everything you need is a practical tool:
Encrypt partitions on the USB stick
A USB stick is ideal for backing up important data and documents. To best protect your privacy, you can encrypt a single partition on the stick. This is particularly easy with the free "Rohos Mini Drive" program:
- Download the freeware "Rohos Mini Drive" and install the program.
- Then start the tool and connect the USB stick to your PC. On the start screen, click on "Configure USB stick". Here you set the size of the encrypted and hidden partition. The minimum size is 500 MB. You also determine the password with which you have access to the encrypted data.
- If you confirm your entries with [Enter], the partition is created.
- Now you can see the information about your USB stick at the top: In addition to the drive letter and total size, you can also see the free space. Here you also disconnect the stick.
- The hidden drive can also be seen in the file manager as long as the stick is connected to the Rohos Mini Drive. To get access to the hidden and encrypted partition, click the "Rohos Mini.exe" icon in the visible USB stick directory and enter the password.
If you no longer want to use the encrypted partition, you can format your USB stick and free up the memory again.
