Import UTF-8 CSV to Excel on Mac
You need your Mac and the corresponding CSV file for this guide. You can then import them into Excel using the following steps:
- Open Excel and go to "Data" in the top bar.
- In the drop-down menu, select the "From Text" entry and navigate to the location of your CSV file. The auxiliary program that supports you during the import opens.
- Select the file type that best suits your data. If the data in the CSV file is separated by tab keys, colons, semicolons, spaces or similar characters, select "Separated". If the columns are all the same length, select "Fixed Width".
- For file origin you have to select "65001: Unicode (UTF-8)". Then press "Next".
- Now you can see a preview of the files. If you are using "Delimited", now select the appropriate characters that were used to separate. At the end, check again in the preview that everything is displayed as desired.
- However, if you use "Fixed Width", you can now define the column breaks again. Click on Continue".
- Here you can use other separators and remove columns. You should also set the correct date format and other important standard formats according to your file.
- Finally click on "Finish" to complete the import.
