Traffic signs in Germany: Hardly anyone knows these signs
There is a whole forest of traffic signs on many streets in Germany. Most are familiar to every driver and can therefore be observed. Some signs, however, will pass through some motorists with wonder and wonder what they mean.
Traffic signs in Germany: The way to the city center
- Many, if not most, drivers misinterpret this traffic sign.
- It does not indicate a roundabout, nor does it show the way to the next sports stadium.
- This sign has been found in some cities since 2007. It should show the way to the city center. Perhaps a small addition in the form of the word "center" would have provided more clarity.
A street for skaters only
- This traffic sign is a little unfortunate in its composition. It doesn't mean that skaters are "fair game".
- Rather, the sign indicates that a certain path is only free for skaters and roller skaters.
- So neither cars nor cyclists are allowed here.
Traffic sign refers to help with breakdowns
- Seeing this traffic sign can be helpful in some situations. It shows a certain tool, a so-called "Englishman" on a white background with a blue border.
- The sign indicates that there is a workshop nearby. If you have a car breakdown, it is best to look out for this tip.
- This sign is not very well known. Many will probably interpret it as an indication that there is a radio mast nearby.
A sign only for cars, not for drivers
- If you discover this sign on the edge of the street, you are probably somewhere between Munich and Ingolstadt.
- You do not have to pay attention to this traffic sign as a driver - it is only intended for cars and for robotic cars.
- These signs were set up on the test track for autonomous driving in order to serve as a guide for cars without a driver. So the vehicles always know where they are.
