Video transitions: The best tips for changing scenes
To make sure that the transitions in videos also look appropriate, there are a few tips to keep in mind. In this practical tip we will tell you what is important.
- The hard cut describes the abrupt termination of a scene with the immediate start of a new scene. You can use this hard cut in your movie, but you shouldn't use it too often, otherwise it will be noticed quickly.
- The soft cut is a bit friendlier. Most programs offer several settings to make the transition as smooth and unnoticed as possible. This is done by assigning the same length to both scenes so that a transition is hardly noticeable. But here, too, you should use the soft cut sparingly, as it is also noticeable after repeated use.
- If you have moving scenes and want to make a cut, the change should be massive. The viewers should immediately notice that there is a change of perspective or something similar.
- Quiet scenes should also have a smooth transition. In short: the basic tone of one scene should be transferred to the other.
