Video editing on an ultrabook only works under certain conditions. We will show you what is important.
Is an ultrabook suitable for video editing?
- The name Ultrabook sounds like an extremely powerful laptop, but the built-in hardware is usually not particularly powerful.
- However, an ultrabook should generally still be capable of video editing. The recommended performance features can be found in the next paragraph.
- If the performance of your Ultrabook is comparatively low, editing is possible, but rendering could take a little longer depending on the image material. If you are working with images in HD, you should choose a slightly faster Ultrabook for the rendering.
What does an ultrabook need for video editing?
- Ultrabooks have either a Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 processor. For the fastest possible processing, a Core i5 or Core i7 processor with more than 2 GHz is recommended.
- Here you should also pay attention to the current generation of Intel processors: An i5 processor of an older generation can in doubt be weaker than an i3 processor of a newer generation.
- There should also be no lack of RAM. 4 GB are usually sufficient for professional work, but more RAM does not cost much more and usually pays off in the end.
