Videopad: add and edit subtitles
With the "VideoPad" program, you can easily add your own or existing subtitles to your video and edit them. We show you how this works in this practical tip.
Add and edit subtitles with video pad
First download the editing software VideoPad Video Editor. Note that you can use VideoPad for free in a two-week trial period. After this test period, VideoPad will be deactivated automatically. You won't be able to use the program until you buy it for $ 30.
- As soon as you have installed VideoPad, start the program with a double click, select the "Add file" option under "Start" in the upper tab and search for the video file to which you want to add subtitles.
- If your file has been transferred to VideoPad, you can view it by clicking on the "Video files" button. Right-click on the file to be edited and execute the "Place in sequence" command. Alternatively, use the key combination "Ctrl" + "E" for this command.
- The selected video file now appears in a sequence. Now select the "Subtitles" button under the "Start" tab. A new window will appear. Find an existing subtitle here or create a new one.
- To add a subtitle file to the video material, click on the "Load SSA" button in the top left and search for the corresponding file. You can create new subtitles by selecting the desired time using the timeline and clicking on "Add" in the toolbar.
- Below the video you will find the options "Show" and "Hide". Enter the time period at which the subtitle should be displayed. To do this, click on the options and select the desired times. If you want, you can also move the red and blue flags in the scene overview and thus set the time frame.
- Finally, enter the text that you would like to be displayed as a subtitle in the selected period in the bottom input field. You can also use the text attributes on the right edge of the screen to determine the font, size, text color and position.
With the VideoPad Video Editor you can also change the speed of your video. You can find out how to do this in another practical tip.
