Make videos louder - how it works
Recorded videos are often too quiet. In this article we will show you how to make the soundtrack of a video sequence louder.
Avidemux: Make videos louder
The free video editing program Avidemux supports numerous formats and comes with some filters. With the tool you can edit the video and audio output separately.
- Avidemux: Install the Avidemux program on your PC. After launching, you need to import your video. To do this, go to "File" -> "Open" in the menu bar and add your video.
- Video Output: To ensure that nothing changes in the image quality of the video, set the video output to "Copy" in the left area.
- Audio Output: You can only edit the audio track when it is re-encoded. To do this, select a different audio format. The formats AAC, AC3, MP2, MP3, PCM and Vorbis are available. Then click on "Filter". Set the "Gain Mode" to "Manual (dB)". If you now increase the value under "Gain value", then your later audio track will be louder by this value in decibels (dB). Values from -10 dB to 40 dB are accepted. To avoid distorting the sound, do not select a value that is too high.
- Edition: Finally, your video is re-encoded. Select a suitable format under "Output Format" and then click on "Save Video" in the toolbar.
