Cut videos with iPhone - how it works
If you shoot a video with your iPhone, you can then cut the clip. We'll show you how to do it and what Apple's video editing can do.
Cut iPhone videos without an app
You can cut your self-made iPhone videos directly on the device. You don't even need a separate app for this:
- Open the preinstalled Photos app and navigate to your video.
- If you tap on the preview image, you will find a bar with several images above the video. Drag the ends of the bar to different locations to remove unwanted scenes.
- Finally, tap "Trim" in the top right corner to save your cut clip.
iPhone: Professional video editing with apps
If you want to not only cut your videos, but also combine them or decorate them with effects, you have to resort to an alternative app. We have summarized some good programs for you:
- iMovie: With the video editing app from Apple, you can edit your videos like a professional. You can add sound tracks, merge multiple clips, or drill out the files with effects.
- Vizmato: Use the free "Vizmato" app to drill out your clips with countless effects and filters. Of course you can also cut, merge or play the files backwards.
- Splice: The free video editor "Splice" also scores with many filters and effects. You can also cut your videos and add audio files.
If you really want to get everything out of your iPhone, you can record your videos in 4K or film in slow motion. This article is based on iOS 8.2.
