Cutting videos or films with the VLC media player - is that possible?
If you want to cut videos and films with the VLC Media Player, this is only possible to a limited extent. We show you how it's done, as well as two successful and free alternatives.
VLC Player: Cut videos and films yourself
- In theory, videos can be cut with the VLC Player. The process is not exactly comfortable and very rudimentary. With the recording function you can record individual scenes or extract them from the video. It is not possible to combine sequences.
- To do this, click on "View" in the menu bar at the top and select "Advanced Control". You will then find a recording function below with which you can record the desired sections from imported videos. Unfortunately, this does not work under MacOS.
- It becomes more convenient with the free software VLMC, the VideoLAN Movie Creator. This is the editing software from the developers of the VLC player. Alternatively, you can also use the Windows software, the Windows Movie Maker.
