This practical tip shows you how you can conveniently buy a vignette for the Austrian motorway toll online before starting your holiday.
How to buy vignettes for Austria with the ADAC shop
- Open this link to access the ADAC online shop.
- You now see an overview of the vignettes for Austria that you can purchase. You can choose between a car and a motorcycle Vidnette. If you only have to drive by car in or through Austria for a few days, you should purchase the 10-day vignette for 9.20 euros. Otherwise you can choose between the two-month vignette for 26.80 euros and the vignette for one year for 89.20 euros.
- Once you have decided on a vignette, click on it. In the "Travel Date" window, indicate the start of the validity of the vignette. From then on, the period in which you can use the vignette runs. Please note that the travel date must be at least five days in the future.
- Then click on "Shopping Cart" and then on "Checkout".
- Then click on the "Go to next step" button. If you do not yet have an account for the ADAC online shop, you have to register again. It does not matter whether you are a member of the ADAC yourself or not. ADAC members also have to register for the shop again. To do this, click on "for registration".
- Then enter your address and billing address. Confirm with "to the next step".
- In the next step, choose your payment method. You can pay via PayPal, Giropay or by credit card. Shipping costs for shipping vignettes are € 2.95. Confirm with "Buy".
- You will receive a purchase confirmation by email. The vignette should now reach you within five days. You can find out exactly where you need to attach the vignette to your PWK in the documents that you receive with the vignette.
Digital vignette for Austria
You can pay the motorway toll for Austria not only by purchasing sticker stickers.
- In the meantime there is also the option of the digital vignette. This saves you having to stick it on and then sometimes laboriously removing the adhesive vignette.
- The digital vignette is linked to your license plate. If you purchase a digital vignette, your license plate will be recorded in the system of the Austrian motorway company ASFINAG.
- If you are checked, your license plate is automatically compared with the system.
- In addition to being easy to use, a digital vignette has another advantage: if you buy a normal vignette online, there is a blocking period of 18 days. Your digital vignette is immediately ready for use.
- Like the normal adhesive vignette, the digital vignette is available for 10 days, two months or a whole year. The two versions do not differ in price. You can conveniently obtain the digital vignettes at any ADAC branch or in the ASFINAG online shop.
