Virus protection for the iPad - necessary or not?

Everyone has virus protection for their computers, but what about mobile devices like the iPad? There are numerous anti-virus apps and firewalls for Android phones, but there is hardly anything for the iPad in the app store.
Virus protection for mobile Apple devices: effective or useless?
In the App Store, you won't find any applications for your Apple mobile devices that can really protect you from viruses. And for a good reason:
- As long as nothing on the system of the iPad has been changed by a jail break, the mobile operating system iOS is self-contained and secure. Attacks on the system by a virus are therefore excluded.
- Unlike a Windows PC, for example, the iOS core is not accessible for apps. Applications run on the iPad in an isolated room, so to speak. While some apps have permission to connect to other apps, any interaction between Apple apps must be allowed.
- Unlike with Android apps, Apple users can only download applications from the App Store. These were previously checked by Apple. This prevents apps from tapping data without permission.
Conclusion: In contrast to mobile Android devices, you basically do not need virus protection for your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. There are two exceptions to this rule: jailbroken iOS devices pose a security risk; also downloads from cloud services. This practical tip goes into both cases specifically.
