Vivaldi: Install addons - how it works
Since Vivaldi, like Google Chrome, is based on Chromium, you can theoretically install add-ons that are actually offered for Chrome. Although you still have to live with some restrictions, popular extensions are generally relatively stable. This practical tip shows you how to add addons to Vivaldi.
Add extensions in the Vivaldi browser
Note: Vivaldi does not yet officially support adding addons, so problems can still arise.
- Under Vivaldi, either go to the Chrome web store or search for extensions for Chrome on other portals, for example in the CHIP download charts.
- For example, you could search for the popular "Adblock Plus for Chrome" extension here.
- In the Chrome webstore you can integrate the addon into Vivaldi using the "Add" button.
- The extension is then immediately activated and you can test whether it works under Vivaldi.
Cool tip: send URLs via addon
Next we'll show you how to set Vivaldi as your default browser. This tip refers to Vivaldi 1.0.344.37 (Beta 2).
