VLC Media Player: Watch 3D movies - how it works
If you want to watch 3D films on your computer, this is possible with the VLC Media Player. We show you which settings you have to make for 3D enjoyment.
Watch 3D movies in VLC Player
- First download the latest version of the VLC player and click on "Open media" or "Open file" under "Media" above. If you select the 3D film from the hard disk or DVD, it starts automatically. Of course, your computer and the monitor must support the playback of 3D films.
- Please note that you cannot play 3D Blu-Rays with the VLC player. The special AACS codec is required for this, which you can unfortunately only find in paid programs.
- To ensure that the 3D film runs smoothly, you should activate the GPU acceleration. To do this, click on "Settings" under "Tools" and switch to the "Input / Codecs" category above. Under "Hardware-accelerated decoding" select the option "Automatic" or the desired GPU.
