VLC Player: Deactivate font cache message
If you start a video in the VLC player, you often get the message that the font cache is being renewed. You can deactivate this annoying waiting time with just a few simple steps. However, the subtitles cannot always be displayed.
How to disable font cache creation in VLC Player
- Open the VLC player and press the key combination [Ctrl] + [P]. Alternatively, you can also call up the settings manually via the "Tools" tab.
- At the bottom you will find "Show settings". Here you have to activate "All".
- In the "Videos" menu, call up the "Subtitles" sub-item and select the so-called "dummy font rendering function" from the "Text Renderer Module".
- After restarting the VLC player, the setting is activated.
- Should you ever need subtitles, all you have to do is set the "Text Renderer Module" back to "Standard".
The instructions refer to version 1.1.4 of the VLC player under Windows 7. You can also use the VLC player on the Mac. You'll find more about it here.
