VLC Player: Enable and disable subtitles
With the VLC player, you can easily activate and deactivate subtitles. It even works permanently. We show you how it works.
How to enable and disable subtitles in the VLC player
- Start playing a DVD and right-click on the image.
- In the context menu, open "Video" and then the "Subtitle track".
- Here you can activate and deactivate the subtitles.
- If you want to permanently deactivate the subtitles, call up the settings with [Ctrl] + [P]. Under "Show settings" click on "All" and the menu item "Input / Codecs" can be displayed.
- Change the "Subtitle Track ID" from -1 to 0 to switch the subtitle off permanently.
The instructions refer to version 1.1.4 of the VLC player under Windows 7. You can also deactivate the annoying "font cache message" when you start the VLC player in the settings. Read more about this here.
