VLC: Silent Install - how it works
With the Silent Install, you can install the VLC player in just a few seconds. How this works and what you need to set up the versatile video player without a complicated set-up menu, we have summarized for you in this practical tip.
Silent Install for VLC Media Player: Preparations
To install the VLC Media Player via Silent Install, you of course need the installation file for VLC.
- Once the file has been downloaded to your computer, you can start the command prompt. You can either find it easily via the Windows search, or start it directly from the Run window with the "cmd" command.
- In the command prompt you must now call the file location of the installation file.
- To do this, you can easily open a subfolder with the "cd" command (without quotes). If you have saved the file in the "Downloads" subfolder, for example, you only have to enter "cd Downloads" and confirm with Enter. With "cd .." you navigate up one folder level.
Now for the actual silent install
Enter the full file name with the file extension. Then a space, then "L = 1031 / S" (without quotes) and confirm with Enter.
- By the way: L = 1031 stands for the language of the program. 1031 is German and with 1033 you can also select English.
- As soon as you press Enter, VLC is installed and can then be called up as usual.
