For the popular VLC video player, there have been some interesting changes to marvel at since the last update. In addition to numerous bug fixes, it is now possible to play VR videos. We show you everything you should pay attention to.
VLC - now you can also play VR videos
In addition to many new functions, such as an optimized display for MP4 and Blu-ray files, support for Google Chromecasts has also been improved. However, the biggest milestone of the VLC player is the new function to be able to play VR videos.
- If you would like to play your VR films with the VLC player in the future, download the current version from Chip Downloads.
- The VLC player automatically recognizes which video type it is. So you can easily open VR files from your PC or stream them via an RTP connection.
- In addition, the VLC player is no longer only compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac. If you mainly use mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets, you can now use the program without restrictions with Android and iOS.
- If you want to open a video file from your PC, right-click on a free space in the VLC player. Now go to "Add file" (see picture) and select the desired video.
- If you have not saved a suitable video, you can also stream a YouTube video. To do this, repeat the previous step and click on the "Open advanced" tab instead of "Add file". Under "Network" you can now insert a YouTube link or the IP address of another stream.
