Facebook offers various advantages, but the disadvantages should not be forgotten. We weigh pros and cons for you.
The advantages of Facebook
- According to Facebook, around one in four Germans is now registered with Facebook. Almost everyone among the younger generations has Facebook, and the age group 40+ is discovering Facebook more and more for themselves.
- The social network offers you the easiest communication possible with people all over the world. Write messages with friends, share photos with friends, family or around the world. Exchange in groups on various topics and organize your event, demonstration or party.
- There is also no lack of entertainment on Facebook. Provide websites like CHIP, Spiegel Online or 9GAG with a like and you will always receive the latest technology news, news and entertaining pictures and videos on the homepage in the newsfeed.
The disadvantages of Facebook
Your privacy settings must be changed, as you can see in the video.
- Facebook is not entirely free. In return for using Facebook, the company requests your data. These are permanently collected, stored and ultimately earned money (advertising).
- Facebook always has problems to comply with the German data protection guidelines. The default settings for your privacy are horrible for every data protection officer. Once you have adjusted the privacy settings, your data is relatively well protected.
- Tip: Don't make your profile public. Potential employers are now also checking your applicants on Facebook. You should keep the party pictures from last night or something similar private.
Facebook: yes or no?
- Facebook searches and analyzes your messages for keywords, for example to personalize the advertising.
- Facebook connects us with our friends, family and, if desired, with the whole world. Especially the young generation can hardly imagine life without Facebook.
- For all those who take data protection a little closely: Should Facebook and the NSA know that you have liked CHIP on Facebook. That just testifies to good taste.
