Renew thermal paste - you need to know that
In order for your PC to function properly, you should regularly replace the thermal paste. You can find out what you need to consider in this practical tip.
Renew thermal grease - how it works
When you replace the thermal paste for your CPU on the mainboard, you should note the following points:
- Clean the contact surface thoroughly before you start applying the thermal grease. To do this, use a weak solvent on a lint-free cloth, such as a kitchen roll or an eyeglass cleaning cloth. Then make sure that no dust or lint remains.
- Be careful not to touch the contact surface after cleaning.
- The best way to put the thermal paste on the bottom of the cooler is with a clean knife.
- Then put a plastic bag over your fingers and use them to spread the paste clockwise and counterclockwise.
- You can then use this method to apply thermal paste to the processor. However, a thin layer is sufficient here.
- If both components are rubbed with the paste, make sure again that no contamination has formed. If there is no contamination, you can press the two components together according to the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure that you do not rotate or move the surfaces, but bring them together as straight as possible.
