Words double underlined on websites
If a conspicuous number of words on Internet pages are underlined twice in your browser, this is mostly due to unwanted adware. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Words double underlined on websites
- Double-underlined words show advertising when you move the mouse over the mostly blue or green markings.
- More and more reputable websites use this form of advertising. If the underlines appear only on a few websites and only occasionally, everything is fine with your computer.
- Only if the links appear on almost every page and are littered with them, have you caught a pest. Read on in the next paragraph.
Adware underlines words twice
If a lot of words are underlined twice, it is mostly harmless adware that only wants to earn some money through advertising. You can easily get rid of these with these steps:
- Uninstalling programs: First open the Control Panel and sort the list of installed programs by the installation date. Remove all unknown and dubious new additions here. Google the entries in case of doubt.
- AdwCleaner: The free AdwCleaner also removes the last remnants of the adware.
- Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: If the problem persists, it is a somewhat more persistent malware. This free virus scan is considered extremely reliable and should remove the virus.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to check individual files online for viruses.
