Clothes dryer: So much capacity makes sense
The capacity of a tumble dryer should be optimally adapted to your life situation. Because neither a drum that is too big nor too small makes sense and ultimately only causes you superfluous costs.
What types of tumble dryers are there?
The most common tumble dryers today have a capacity of between six and eight kilograms. However, you will also find white goods with a capacity of three or ten kilograms.
When is which tumble drum size suitable?
First of all, when planning, you have to take into account that the stated volume does not refer to the dry laundry, but to the wet laundry. And of course this weighs a lot more.
- Therefore, a mini dryer with a capacity of 3-5 kg is relatively pointless, even for a single household. A pair of jeans and one or two sweatshirts should already weigh around three kilograms and switching on a tumble dryer for this does not make any sense either economically or in terms of time.
- For a single or two-person household, white goods with a capacity of six to seven kilograms should be enough.
- If there are children in the household or if you live in a shared apartment, tumble dryers with a drum size of eight kilograms or more are available.
A few tips before buying the white goods
- If you are thinking of getting a tumble dryer, an energy-saving tumble dryer with a heat pump may be of interest.
- You should also keep an eye on the different energy efficiency classes when making a purchase.

Last, but not least: Before throwing your laundry in the dryer, you should make sure that it is suitable for it at all. Fabrics such as new wool, cashmere, silk or mohair could very much blame you for the drying process.
