Configure maintenance center under Windows 8 - how it works
The maintenance center combines numerous functions under Windows 8 with which you can protect your PC. We show you how to configure the tool correctly.
Windows 8: Configure maintenance center
- Open the Control Panel and select the "Maintenance Center" under the "System and Security" category.
- There are two broad categories here. Under the category "Security" you will find messages about the firewall, Windows Update and your anti-virus software. If something is wrong there, Windows will immediately provide solutions to the problem.
- Under the second category "Maintenance" you will find all the services that keep your computer busy. This includes, for example, the automatic maintenance of your system by Windows. Here, too, you can see immediately if something is wrong.
- On the left side, you can use the "Change maintenance center settings" option to specify which services Windows should monitor. With the "Change Windows SmartScreen Settings" function, you can temporarily switch off the protective function. This is useful, for example, when Windows blocks certain programs.
We will show you how to deactivate the maintenance center messages in the next practical tip.
