Why don't airplanes have winter tires? Easily explained
Have you ever wondered why planes don't have winter tires? We do - and we also researched the answer to the question for you.
Airplanes and winter tires - that doesn't fit
As a driver, you have to put on winter tires in ice and snow.
- Special tires for ice and snow bring more safety to the vehicle. One should think that also with airplanes. After all, planes also take off and land in winter.
- However, there are no winter tires for aircraft. The reason is simple: with winter tires, aviators would not reach the speed necessary for a safe start.
- Since winter tires are not possible for aircraft, you have to work thoroughly on another side: The runway must always be free of ice and snow.
- To do this, the train must be cleared with special clearing vehicles - the buckets of these vehicles are an impressive six meters wide.
- Note: By the way, we will explain in a further article when drivers are obliged to mount winter tires.
