What does an ECO mode bring? All information
Many household appliances such as televisions, washing machines and telephones are equipped with an ECO mode. In this practical tip, we will tell you what the environmentally friendly mode is good for.
ECO mode for TVs: does it work?
- For several years now, TVs have also been advertised with the so-called ECO mode. This is a mode in which the devices use less power.
- Since the television in many households runs for several hours a day, an ECO mode definitely makes sense. The saving effect comes from the fact that the display is darkened and the TV experience often suffers.
- Depending on the TV set, the ECO mode can save you between 1 and 4 euros in electricity costs per month. Before buying, however, you should definitely try out in the store whether you still like the picture quality in ECO mode.
- However, there are also black sheep with ECO mode. A Phillips television set from 2009 used more electricity in ECO mode than in normal operation.
Power saving mode on other household appliances
- In addition to televisions, the ECO mode can be found primarily in washing machines. In addition to electricity, the function should also save water there. Depending on the model and the wash cycle selected, the ECO mode can make significant savings or make only a minimal difference.
- DECT phones are also available with ECO mode. The already low DECT radiation is said to be significantly reduced again by the ECO mode.
