When it comes to the resolution and quality of TVs or videos, the term 4k is often used. We'll show you what it is and whether 4k is really worth it.
4k - what is it? It is explained here
- The term 4k stands for the resolution of videos and screens. It is a very high resolution standard.
- Most current TVs support Full HD resolution, also called 2k or 1080p. Screens and videos have a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels.
- Videos or TVs in 4k display a picture twice as good. The resolution is 3840 × 2160 pixels. 4k is also known as Ultra HD (UHD).
Will 4k screens prevail?
- Even if screens with a 4k resolution are currently still quite expensive, the future is in there. The resolution is simply twice as good as with the well-known Full HD.
- Some cinemas have recently switched their halls to 4k quality. YouTube has also started to allow 4k videos to be uploaded.
- The successor is not long in coming: The 8k resolution with 7680 × 4320 pixels offers four times better quality. However, it will take a few more years for this standard to become established.
