In addition to Word and Excel, Microsoft also offers less well-known software such as Access in its office suite. We show you what it is and how the program works.
This is Access overview
- Access is a software from Microsoft. Like Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Access can also be purchased separately or in a complete Microsoft Office package.
- With Access, you can mainly create and manage database applications. Great programming skills are not required. Even laypersons can use the software after a briefing.
- The databases can be created both as apps for the PC and as applications for the browser. After the creation, you can make databases accessible to all desired colleagues.
databases
- Large and small companies alike store a lot of information in databases. For example, entire processes such as purchasing and sales are processed with a database. The advantage of databases is usually the clear structure and the fairly simple handling.
- Access can also control which employees can access which databases and whether they have the right to edit certain databases. For example, some employees can only view certain databases, but others can edit them themselves.
Microsoft Access: advantages
- Like all Office products, Access is designed for the average end user. As in Word, Outlook and Excel, the basic functions are self-explanatory, but professionals can unlock and use many other functions.
- One of the biggest advantages of Access is its ease of use. Thanks to the user interface known from Microsoft, even non-programmers can quickly find their way around the software. A too deep understanding of databases and extensive IT knowledge is not necessary for operation. By spreading Access, you will find numerous free templates for the program online.
- You don't have to worry about access and integration with Windows. Since both Windows and Access are products from Microsoft, integration is always a given. Unlike Word, Excel and Co., however, Access is not available for Mac OS.
- The in-house Microsoft Jet Engine is used as the backend. Very large databases or databases that are used by more than 10 people at the same time should, however, be migrated to an MS SQL server.
