What is Bootcamp (Mac)? Explained in a simple and understandable way
As a Mac user, you will always come across the boot camp. You can find out what this is and what the boot camp has to do with Windows in this article.
Apple Bootcamp - that's the reason
Although MacOS is already very sophisticated, the Apple operating system lacks some functions compared to Windows. That's why Apple developed the Bootcamp software. You can install Windows under MacOS with this:
- To do this, you need the ISO file of the operating system, which you can unzip and install via Bootcamp. After you restart your Mac, both operating systems are available.
- Bootcamp version 5.1 supports 64-bit non-enterprise editions of Windows. This includes Windows 7, 8.0 and 8.1. The installation of older versions of Windows depends on the specifications of your Mac computer.
- Through a hybrid mode of the firmware and with the help of a partition table, the Mac can switch between the two operating systems. In other words: at startup you can choose whether you want to use Windows or MacOS.
- Until now, the only alternatives considered were programs that created a virtual machine on the Mac. More details about Apple's boot camp can be found on the official website.
