What is the difference between LED and OLED?
In addition to LED, there is now also OLED - but what is it and what difference does it make?
Comparison of LED and OLED
LED stands for "(inorganic) light-emitting diode", OLED for "organic light-emitting diode". The following differences result from this:
- LEDs are so-called point light sources, while OLEDs are area lamps.
- This makes the OLED light softer and more diffuse.
- The OLED lifespan is currently shorter than that of LED.
- The energy efficiency of OLED is also somewhat worse than that of LED.
- OLED displays are more contrasting, the colors are richer.
