What is the CPU load?
In this practical tip we tell you what is behind the term "CPU load".
That means CPU usage?
The CPU load indicates the current computing power of your computer in percent. The more computing time your PC needs for running processes, the higher the percentage of CPU utilization. The more cores your CPU has, the less each core is used. This means that CPU utilization is also lower.
How to find out the current CPU load
- Simultaneously press the following keys to open the Task Manager: [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del]. A new window opens in Windows 7, in which you first have to click the "Start Task Manager" button.
- In the "Windows Task Manager" click on the "Processes" tab to display the currently running processes. Click on the "CPU" entry to sort the processes according to their CPU utilization.
- Under the "Performance" tab, the current CPU utilization is displayed graphically as bar charts.
The instructions refer to Windows 7. You can find out what you can do if your CPU usage under Windows 7 is too high here.
