What is an all-in-one PC? Easily explained
If you want to buy a new computer, you will quickly come across all-in-one PCs. In this practical tip, we explain exactly what that is and the advantages of the all-in-one PCs.
All-in-one PC: what is it?
- The all-in-one PC is not a new invention - but the all-rounder has become increasingly popular in recent years. An all-in-one PC combines a PC, monitor and loudspeaker in one device. This not only creates clarity, but also prevents cable clutter. Many all-in-one PCs are now also available with a touch display.
- The entire technology is installed behind the display. If you transport an all-in-one PC to another location, you usually only need to take the power cable with you. Keyboard and mouse are often included and wirelessly connected via Bluetooth. Of course, you can also connect all the desired devices via USB cable.
- The most popular and well-known all-in-one PC is the Apple iMac (see picture). Current models cost between 1, 300 and 2, 600 euros. All-in-one PCs from other manufacturers are also available for around 400 euros (for ranking).
Advantages and disadvantages of all-in-one PCs
- The biggest advantage of the all-in-one PCs is the space saved. All components are housed in one component to save space. This also makes the annoying cable connections unnecessary. If you want to move or transport the PC, this is relatively quick and easy.
- If you want to provide your all-in-one PC with more RAM or a larger hard disk later, this can be done with a little effort, as with the classic desktop PC. It is difficult or impossible to change other components such as the graphics card in many models. But if you don't tinker with the PC anyway, the all-in-one PC is well suited for you.
- The compact design of the all-in-one PCs has another disadvantage. As with a notebook, the following applies: If the display breaks, the entire PC is usually unusable.
