What does "desktop PC" mean?

- The word "top" also comes from the English and means "surface" or "top".
- So the term composite means something like "desk calculator".
Use of desktop PCs
While more and more laptops mix in the private market, desktop PCs are mostly used in the commercial sector.
- Offices in large companies mostly use desktop PCs.
- It is crucial with these computers that you are directly at the desk or workplace.
Differences to other types of PC
The desktop PC decides on other conventional PC types in two clear points:
- Desktop PCs are permanently installed and therefore more difficult to steal, such as laptops. A decisive advantage in companies or schools.
- Laptops come fully assembled, while desktop computers still need some additional hardware - for example a mouse, keyboard and a monitor.
