Head-up display in the car: everything at a glance
A head-up display projects certain data into the user's field of vision. Many know this from airplanes. HUDs, as head-up displays are also called, are also available for cars or motorcycle helmets.
- Usually, cockpit data such as the speed or the navigation system with its information is projected onto the windscreen of the car or the visor of the helmet.
- Some car manufacturers are now offering new vehicle models with this technology. However, it is cheaper to retrofit a head-up display. For this you need a special interface as well as a display film or a reflector.
- The idea of a head-up display is more security. Important information is in view. So you don't have to take your eyes off the road, for example to follow the instructions of the navigation system.
- There are also cell phone mounts with reflectors. You can then place this on the shelf in the front of the car and project the image onto the windscreen.
