What is a billing address? Easily explained
- If you found an item that you like when shopping online, first add it to the shopping cart.
- If you go to the checkout, you have to go through the ordering process. During this process you will be asked for the delivery address. As the name suggests, this is the address to which the goods are to be sent.
- In the same or sometimes in the next step, the question of the billing address is asked. Usually you will be asked at the same time whether the delivery and billing addresses are identical.
- The billing address is the address to which the invoice is issued and to which it is to be sent. This can, but does not have to be, identical to the delivery address.
- If you order something for yourself, both addresses are the same. However, if you want to send something to a friend, for example, they should not get the bill.
- In this case, the delivery address would be your friend's, but the billing address would be your own.
