What is GUI? Easily explained
In some games you stumble across the term "GUI" in the settings. We explain what GUI is and what it does in games.
GUI: Graphical user interface of games and programs
- GUI stands for "Graphical User Interface". This is the graphic user interface that you use to operate a game or program.
- When you start a video game, you usually get to a selection menu in which you can load saved files or change the graphics settings. This interface is sometimes referred to as the GUI.
- The programmers of a game, for example, provide that you should have the "Load game" function in the menu. In the programming language, however, this is just a command that you would theoretically have to enter on the screen to load a game.
- The GUI now provides you with a button for loading the game and thus links the programming language with a graphic element, which makes operation easier.
- However, GUIs are not only found in video games. Almost every program has a graphical user interface.
