The term "rendering" often appears in image and video editing. In this article, we explain what that is and what exactly the rendering does.
Rendering - what is it?
- Objects: Due to the shorter computing time, an object or a model is created or drawn with a compressed data format. Only when it is completed are further properties such as the surface structure, the color gradient or the light sources calculated by rendering.
- Image processing: The computer calculates the effects for post-processing, for example the sharpness, the exposure or the transitions, before the final completion. These calculations are called rendering.
- Video editing: When rendering videos, a frame is created from a composition. A composition is the timeline of a video that has multiple layers (for example, animated texts, vector graphics or audio streams). The information from all levels is merged into a two-dimensional image.
