What is UHD? Explained in a simple and understandable way
Full HD has already established itself on the television market. With UHD, the successor is now in the starting blocks. You can find out exactly what this is and what the differences are to the other names in this article.
UHD: Even sharper than Full HD
- UHD stands for "Ultra High Definition" and means translated into German: "Ultra high definition". You will also find the inscription "4K" on the television packaging.
- With UHD, a screen resolution of 3, 840 × 2, 160 pixels is possible. Full HD, however, only has a resolution of 1, 920 x 1, 080 pixels.
- At the moment you cannot fully use the full 4K resolution in your private home cinema. The public broadcasters only broadcast their HD programs in "HD-ready".
- In addition, only resolutions of 1, 920 x 1080 pixels can be achieved with blurays.
- Only a few video-on-demand providers offer 4K films. In addition, there are more and more ultra high-definition videos on YouTube.
