Wanda in football: what's behind the FIFA advertising partner?
- The Wanda Group is a Chinese conglomerate. Since its foundation in 1988, the company has expanded its field of activity.
- In the meantime, the Wanda Group is not only represented in the real estate business, but also operates in retail, online retail, tourism and sports. In 2016, the goodwill was around 100 billion euros, and the annual turnover was equivalent to 32 billion euros.
- In addition to around 200 shopping centers with shops, restaurants and cinemas as well as around 150 hotels, the Wanda Group owns several theme parks, travel companies and numerous other companies in the entertainment industry.
- The Wanda Group is also involved in many companies outside of China. In 2016, Wanda acquired a majority stake in the film studio Legendary Pictures and the comic book publisher Legendary Comics. The majority of cinemas in the USA thus belong to the Wanda Group.
- The Wanda Group also wants to invest heavily in Europe. A theme park is to be built in Paris for around $ 3.3 billion. A major project is also being planned in London.

- The Wanda Group has been the main sponsor of the Chinese Super League since 2011, the equivalent of the 1st Bundesliga in China. Wanda has also been the main sponsor at FIFA since 2016. From 2018 to 2030, Wanda will be an advertising partner for the World Cup.
