Connect the washing machine - that's how it works
Connecting the washing machine is easier than expected and takes a relatively short amount of time. So that the undertaking succeeds, we have summarized the process for you in this article.
Connect washing machine - preparation
Before you start, check whether you have installed an Aqua-Stop mechanism on your machine.
- If this is not the case, you should consider installing an Aqua-Stop valve. However, this is the job of an electrician. For your own safety, you should not act here yourself.
- You need a power connection, a water connection and a drain for the dirty water. Make sure that the connections are close together. The power connection should be at a safe distance from the water connection.
- It is good if the drain is guaranteed by a permanently installed drain pipe. You can also hang the sewage hose in a sink. Here you should fix it slightly.
- Leave some space between the various connections and the washing machine. This ensures that you have good access to the connections. If you have fixed all connections, do not press the machine fully against the wall so that no hose is disconnected.
- If the washing machine is in the intended place, remove the transport lock. It is located on the feet of the washing machine drum.
How to connect the machine correctly
Once the preparations have been made, you can start connecting.
- Attach the water inlet to the tap. Make sure that you firmly connect the thread of the hose to the machine tap. If the thread is not on the thread, or if the two are screwed at an angle or not firmly, water will drip here later or the connection will not withstand the water pressure and will come loose. It is therefore advisable to subject this point to repeated checks - even at regular intervals after the machine has been started up.
- If you have a drain for the washing machine, for example on the siphon of the sink, attach the hose with a so-called hose clamp. This means that you need a screwdriver here to tighten the clamp well. The same applies here as for the hose for the inlet: Make sure that it is firmly seated. If there is no connection option for the outlet, hang the hose in the sink. Remember to fix the hose.
- Then connect the plug to the mains and the first operation and washing process can begin. A little tip: When you “launch” your washing machine, be close to your plant. If there is a small leak somewhere or something drips, you have an immediate eye on it and can, for example, retighten a thread. You can also react quickly if the washing machine does not draw water or does not drain.
