Washing machine doesn't open - you can do that
If the washing machine does not open, you do not have to call the specialist straight away. As a rule, you can solve the problem yourself. We will show you what the causes are and what you can do.
Troubleshooting: washing machine does not open
Most of the time, the error is fixed quickly and the repair is easy. There are several reasons why the washing machine door remains locked.
- One possible reason is that there is still water in the drum. As long as this is the case, the door remains locked. So switch on the spin cycle and check whether the water is pumped out. In this context, you should also check and clean the fluff filter.
- If there is no more water in the drum and the door of the washing machine can still not be opened, this is still normal at first. When the wash cycle is finished, the door remains locked for about two minutes. If this automatic does not work, it can help to briefly disconnect the device from the power.
- Maybe the door is just stuck. This problem can usually be remedied with a gentle knock on the door or with a shake.
Open the door of the device manually
If the previous measures have not led to the desired success, the repair will be somewhat more complex. Then you have to open the door manually using tools. Disconnect the machine from the power supply before working on it with tools.
- The door is mechanically locked on older models. Then you can usually get to the castle quite easily. Unfortunately, not every machine is in the same place. So you need to check your machine's manual.
- Modern lockers control the lock electronically. Then you have to unscrew the back cover to get inside the washing machine. You can then release the door locking mechanism from the inside with a screwdriver.
