Washing machine moves when spinning: you can do that
If your washing machine drifts when spinning, it may be due to the surface, incorrect adjustment or a defect. We'll show you how to get the problem under control.
Why does the washing machine move when spinning?
When a washing machine wanders, it usually only happens when spinning. In rare cases, it also moves during normal washing.
- The reason for walking is the imbalance that occurs in the drum when spinning. If the empty drum is rotated at over 800 revolutions per minute, the washing machine should not wobble.
- However, water and laundry are still in the drum during the washing process. Since neither is distributed 100 percent evenly, an imbalance arises.
- When centrifuging, the water should be removed from the laundry using centrifugal forces. However, 5kg of laundry develop an effect of 25kg and more, so that even a very stable washing machine may start to move.
- Note : If the washing machine moves to a questionable extent and the following tips and tricks do not help you, there may be a defect. This can occur in different components.
Step 1: Check the transportation lock
This step-by-step guide may help you to get the problem of a wandering washing machine under control.
- A stone or concrete slab serves as a movable counterweight within the washing machine. In the best case, the washing machine's wandering should be prevented.
- Since this plate is movable, it is secured for transport. Use the operating instructions to check whether the plate is still attached as part of the transport lock.
Step 2: align the washing machine correctly
- So that the washing machine does not move when spinning, it must be completely upright. This is the only way the concept of the stone slab works. A spirit level helps here.
- Place the spirit level on the machine and check the alignment both width and depth. The feet of the washing machine can usually be easily screwed in and out.
Step 3: the right surface
- Often the surface is also to blame for the washing machine's hiking. If it is too soft or too hard, this can have a negative impact on the machine.
- In the hardware store you will find stable plates to underlay or soft rubber mats for light suspension. Both can help.
