There are many reasons to insert a watermark in a Word document: Whether you want to mark the status of the processing, particularly important or confidential documents or perhaps want to save a logo - with Word you have a large selection of pre-made watermarks and you can also create your own, Insert custom watermark.
With a few clicks to the watermark
In Word 2007 there is a separate menu for watermarks, which you can use to select templates as well as insert your individual watermark on the background of your document.
- To do this, first click on the "Page layout" tab in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- In this tab you will find the "Watermark" button. Choose from templates such as "Hurry", "Do not copy" or "Confidential", which are already integrated in Word.
Insert your own watermark in Word
If you do not find a suitable watermark for your purpose, you can insert your own text:
- To do this, click on "User-defined watermark ..." in the same drop-down menu below the opened templates.
- In the pop-up that opens, activate the "Text watermark" button and you can now individually define the text, color, layout and font of your watermark. With a click on "Apply" you insert the character.
Insert image watermark in MS Office
If you want to make your document even more individual, you can also insert an entire image as a watermark or semi-transparent background. To do this, proceed as described above and simply select "Image watermark" in the user-defined menu. Click on "Select picture" and upload the desired graphic from your computer. For example, invitation cards or menu lists can be stylishly designed with a subtle background image.
