Watchbox is not working - it could be because of it
If Watchbox (formerly Clipfish) no longer works in your browser or on your TV, there can be several reasons. Read what these are and what you can do about them in this Watchbox guide.
Watch watchbox - nothing works without internet
RTL's video portal Clipfish has been called Watchbox since summer 2017. Nothing fundamental has changed in terms of reception options as a result of the name change: Whether you want to watch Watchbox on your PC or Smart TV - you need a functioning online connection because the content is transmitted as a stream over the Internet.
- Make sure that you have an active internet connection. If you watch Watchbox on the PC, make sure that your browser is not restricted by a firewall rule.
Watchbox is not working on the PC - you can do that
- Adobe Flash Player is required to play Watchbox videos in your web browser. Make sure that you have installed the latest version.
- With an active ad blocker you can usually not play videos from Watchbox. Therefore, switch off your ad blocker before playback or create an exception rule for the page.
- You should also always use the latest version of your web browser. You can also switch to another browser as a test. If Watchbox works there, you can reset your browser to the default settings to fix the problem.
- You may have installed a browser extension that is not compatible with Watchbox. Therefore, deactivate all add-ons as a test. If Watchbox works afterwards, you should find the extension responsible for the problem.
Watch watchbox on TV - you have to be aware of that
In order to watch Watchbox on your TV, you need a suitable receiving and playback device:
- You can receive Watchbox via Amazon Fire TV and the Amazon Fire TV Stick. However, you need the official Watchbox app for this. You can download it from the Amazon App Store.
- Reception via LG Smart TVs with Netcast 4.0 / 4.5 and all LG webOS 1.0 / 2.0 Smart TVs is also possible. However, other LG TVs do not support Watchbox.
- If you have a television with HbbTV support, you can watch selected watchbox channels on it. For this you need a device that receives the RTL signal. If this is the case, you can start using the red button on your remote control while playing RTL or Vox Watchbox.
