Install WatchOS 3 Beta - Here's how
In this article we will show you how to install the watchOS 3 Beta. You can currently only do this with a developer license from Apple. The open beta will unfortunately be a bit late.
Step by step to the new WatchOS
Admittedly, compared to installing the new macOS Sierra Beta, the update to the WatchOS 3 Beta is a bit more cumbersome. But the effort is worth it, the new features have it all!
- Warning: If you update your Apple Watch to the WatchOS 3 Beta, you can no longer switch to an earlier version. This may only be possible by visiting the Apple Store or sending in your Apple Watch, although this has not yet been officially confirmed. If you are aware of this, you can start with the next step.
- You need your Mac, the iPhone with which your Apple Watch is paired and of course the Apple Watch itself. You also need to have an Apple developer license that costs $ 99 a year.
- Download the latest beta from Xcode via this link.
- Update your iPhone to iOS 10 beta. Here is a guide.
- Open Xcode and navigate to Windows> Devices. Write down the UDID of your Apple Watch.
- Then go to Apple's developer page and log in.
- Under Account> Certificates, Identifiers, Profiles you will find the Device Menu. Select the Apple Watch in this and enter your UDID.
- Download the latest profile for your Apple Watch here. This has to get on your iPhone.
- You can send yourself the profile by email and simply open it as an attachment on your iPhone. When asked where to install the profile, select Apple Watch.
- Then open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and select General> Software Update. The beta of WatchOS3 is now installed. Finished!
