Check WD My Cloud for errors - how it works
If your WD My Cloud is malfunctioning, you can use a self-test to check for problems. We'll show you how it's done.
Perform a system test on the WD My Cloud - that's how it's done
- Open the user interface of your WD My Cloud in the browser. To do this, you must use the device's IP address as the URL.
- Log in and then go to Settings.
- Now click on the "Auxiliary program" item in the side menu. You can run a number of different tests here.
- If you suspect a hard drive failure, run the disk check. The "Quick Test" option scans the hard drives for potential errors, but may not be as reliable as a full test. A full test reads in all existing hard drives and searches for problems. Since this is much more precise than a quick test, it also takes longer - sometimes several hours.
- To check the entire system for errors, click on "System check".
- Once the system test is complete, your WD My Cloud will announce the results.
In the next practical tip, you will learn how to configure the energy plan on your WD My Cloud.
