WD My Cloud: Configure energy plan
If you don't use your WD My Cloud at a certain time, it makes sense to set up an energy plan. This means that the device switches itself off and on again at a certain time. You can find out how to do this in this practical tip.
Configure the energy plan on the WD My Cloud - how it works
- Open the configuration interface of your WD My Cloud in your browser and log in.
- Click on "Settings" in the gray horizontal bar at the top and scroll down until you see "Energy saving mode".
- Set the slider to "On" and then press "Configure".
- Now a pop-up window opens in which you can select the periods in which the My Cloud should be switched off. A blue dot means that your NAS is turned on at that time. You can also make these settings according to the days of the week.
- The times in this window are unfortunately only given in the format AM / PM. For example, if you want your WD My Cloud to be turned off from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m., as shown in the screenshot, you must deactivate the points from 12 AM to 6 AM.
- Now press "Save" to apply the settings.
Use WD My Cloud despite the energy plan
If you want to use your WD My Cloud, even though it is switched off according to the energy plan, you can implement the following tips:
- If you already know that you will need your WD My Cloud a little longer, you can easily set the switch for the energy plan to "Off" in the settings. The settings of your energy plan are not lost, they are only deactivated.
- If your WD My Cloud has already shut down, you can turn it on again using Wake On Lan. In this article you will learn how to do this using a Fritzbox.
