WD My Cloud: Turn off indexing - how it works
If you want to turn off automatic indexing on your WD My Cloud, this is usually done with just a few clicks. This practical tip shows you exactly how to do this.
WD My Cloud: How to turn off indexing
- First switch to the "Settings" of the NAS to activate SSH there.
- Then connect to the NAS with an SSH client, such as Putty.
- Log in with your user data when asked for it.
- First enter the following two commands and confirm with [Enter]: "/etc/init.d/wdmcserverd stop" and "/etc/init.d/wdphotodbmergerd stop"
- Wait until the server has processed the commands and then enter these additional commands: "update-rc.d wdphotodbmergerd disable" "update-rc.d wdmcserverd disable"
- After entering, you can close the SSH connection and restart the server via the menu. Then the automatic indexing is successfully switched off.
