WD My Cloud: create remote backups
If you have multiple WD My Cloud devices, you can sync them together. There is the "Remote Backup" feature for this. In this practical tip, we will show you how you can use this function.
Create remote backup on the WD My Cloud - so it'll work
- Log in to your WD My Cloud web interface. You can do this by entering the IP address of your NAS in the address field in the browser.
- Click on "Fuses" in the upper horizontal bar.
- In the side menu, press "Remote backups" and then "Create job".
- Now enter all the requested data in the form. Please note that SSH must be activated on each device. You can find out how to do this in this practical tip. The standard user for SSH is "root", you have to assign the password yourself when connecting for the first time.
- If the two My Clouds are not on the same network, you must also set port forwarding for SSH and remote backup services on your router.
- Now click on "Create" to complete the setup.
